What I've also just noticed is the obvious -- £88 doesn't divide by £9. Which could mean some students/kids/OAPs went to see it, or could just mean Digital Spy are talking rubbish.
And thus... mystery solved. A film nobody heard of, showing at only one cinema for a very short time, at extortionate prices? I wonder why nobody went to see it?
It sounds silly, until you realise that:

b) if it costs £9 for one person to see it, no wonder nobody bothered. £9 for a cinema ticket? That's just robbery.
