Not something I'd thought about until today, when trying to write a poem in a specific meter.
Think it's simple? It isn't, as this complex answer to that simple question proves. Said answer is long and quite technical, but so interesting that I wanted to share it.

Quite interesting, but frankly the answer is just "two".
Or possibly "two, not one, but two, and you can shove it if you think otherwise".
I reckon it's one, cos posh people pronounce it "ahz" and if it were two they'd pronounce it "ah-ruz" or something.
But posh people are wrong.
How do I know this?
